Swap Street Launch a token

Launch guide

How to launch a token on the XRP Ledger

Everything you need to go from an idea to a tradeable token: what it costs, which settings to pick, how to set up liquidity, and how to get seen. The launch itself takes about five minutes.

The short version

1. Plan your token

Decide these before you open the Launch tab. None of them can change once the supply is locked.

Ticker and name

The ticker is what wallets and explorers show, for example STREET. It can be 3 to 20 letters or numbers and can't be XRP. Three-letter tickers are stored as-is; longer ones are stored as a 40-character code, which every major wallet decodes back to your ticker. Search xrpl.to first so you don't launch a duplicate of a well-known name.

Supply

Supply is just a number of units, so it doesn't make your token more or less valuable on its own. 1,000,000,000 (one billion) is the most common choice on the XRP Ledger because prices stay readable. The Launch tab has 1M, 100M, 1B and 10B presets.

Where the supply goes

The full supply is minted to your wallet. From there, you decide how much goes into the starting pool and how much you hold. Write the split down and publish it. A common honest setup: most of the supply in the pool, a small team share, and no hidden wallets.

Logo and details

Use a square PNG, JPG or WebP. Swap Street crops it to a square and saves it at 720×720, which meets Bithomp's 700×700 minimum. Write a one or two sentence description that says what the token is for. Have your X and Telegram handles ready.

Your wallet also keeps its own 1 XRP base reserve, so make sure you have the amounts above on top of that. The Launch tab adds it all up and shows "You need … · you have …" before you start.

3. Issuer settings explained

Your token is issued by a brand-new account that Swap Street creates in your browser. Its secret key never leaves your device. These settings are applied to that account.

Lock supply forever Recommended

After minting, the issuer is blackholed: its regular key is set to the unusable address rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBZbvji and its master key is disabled. Nobody, including you, can ever mint more. This is the strongest trust signal a new token can have.

No freeze Recommended

Permanently gives up the power to freeze holders' balances. Without it, an issuer can lock any holder's tokens.

Transfer fee Use with care

A percentage (0–50%) charged by the ledger on transfers between holders. The fee is destroyed, not paid to you. It makes every trade more expensive, so most community tokens use 0%.

Tick size Advanced

Rounds order-book prices to 3–15 significant digits. Leave it blank unless you know you need it.

Allow clawback Usually avoid

Lets the issuer take tokens back from holders. It only works with Lock supply and No freeze turned off, and most traders avoid tokens that have it.

Require approval Usually avoid

Holders need the issuer to approve their trustline before they can hold the token. It's meant for regulated or private tokens, not open trading.

Disallow XRP Harmless

Asks wallets not to send XRP to the issuer address, so people don't lose XRP by mistake.

Domain

Leave it blank and the issuer points to swap-street.com, which publishes your logo, name, description and links in its xrp-ledger.toml file. Explorers read that file. If you have your own website, you can enter its domain instead, but then you must host your own /.well-known/xrp-ledger.toml listing the issuer.

4. Launch step by step

  1. Open the Launch tab and sign inGo to swap-street.com → Launch and sign in with Xaman. Inside the Xaman app, the Swap Street xApp signs you in automatically.
  2. Fill in the formLogo, ticker, name, description, supply, website, X and Telegram. Check the issuer settings, then open Starting liquidity if you want a pool (see the next section).
  3. Pay and create the issuerPress Launch and approve in Xaman. The 25 XRP fee and the 1.5 XRP issuer funding go together in one atomic transaction: both happen or neither does.
  4. Wait for setupSwap Street waits for the issuer to be active, applies your settings and publishes your logo and details. This takes about 10–30 seconds. Keep the page open.
  5. Add the trustlineApprove the trustline in Xaman so your wallet can hold the token.
  6. Mint and lockThe full supply is sent to your wallet. If you chose Lock supply, the issuer is blackholed straight after.
  7. Create the poolApprove the pool in Xaman. Swap Street checks the ledger and only marks the launch done once the pool exists.
  8. You're liveYour token trades on the XRP Ledger straight away through its pool. It appears in Swap Street's Explore tab and on xrpl.to once xrpl.to indexes it. Share the link.
Closed the page halfway? Your progress is saved on that device. Open the Launch tab again on the same browser and press Continue.
Didn't lock the supply? Then the issuer secret controls your token. Swap Street shows it once the launch finishes: write it down and keep it offline. It's only stored in that browser.

5. Liquidity and starting price

A pool (AMM) holds your token and XRP side by side so anyone can buy or sell instantly. The ratio you put in sets the starting price:

Start price = XRP in pool ÷ tokens in pool

Starting market cap is that price times the total supply. Try it:

Start price–
Starting market cap–
Total XRP needed–

How much to put in

More XRP in the pool means smaller price swings per trade, so early buyers aren't punished with huge price impact. A thin pool (a few XRP) moves a lot on every buy. Only put in what you're comfortable leaving there.

Pool trading fee

Every trade through the pool pays this fee to liquidity providers, including you. It can be 0–1%. 0.5% is the Swap Street default; 0.3% is common for busier pairs.

LP tokens

When you create or add to a pool you receive LP tokens: your share of the pool. They show under Your liquidity on the Liquidity tab, where you can add more with the sliders or sell 25%, 50%, 90% or 100%. Swap Street charges 0.20% in XRP on adding and removing liquidity there.

Impermanent loss: as the price moves, the pool rebalances. If the price rises a lot, you end up with fewer tokens and more XRP than you put in; if it falls, the reverse. Pool fees offset some of this.

No pool at launch?

You can create one later on the Liquidity tab: pick XRP and your token, enter both amounts, and press Create pool.

Wallets

Your token works in every XRP Ledger wallet once someone adds the trustline. Xaman's curated short list isn't taking new projects until the XRPL Foundation launches its token vetting program (Xaman help).

7. Trust signals

New tokens are judged fast. These are what experienced XRP Ledger traders check first:

SignalWhy it matters
Issuer blackholedNo one can mint more and dilute holders.
No freeze, no clawbackHolders' tokens can't be locked or taken.
Real liquidityPeople can sell, not only buy.
0% transfer feeNo hidden tax on every trade.
Published supply splitShows there are no hidden team bags.
Logo, description and linksShows someone stands behind the token.

8. Troubleshooting

"The issuer account is not active yet"

The ledger needs a few seconds to confirm the funding payment. Wait a moment and press Continue.

"Not enough XRP"

The button compares what the launch needs with your spendable XRP (your balance minus your reserves). Lower the pool amount or add XRP.

Pool step fails with tecUNFUNDED_AMM

You don't hold enough of one side. Check the pool amounts against your balance, including the 0.4 XRP pool costs.

Pool step fails with tecDUPLICATE

A pool for this pair already exists. Skip the pool and add to it on the Liquidity tab instead.

tecINSUF_RESERVE_LINE

Your wallet doesn't have the 0.2 XRP reserve for a new trustline or LP token line. Add a little XRP and retry.

Logo doesn't show yet

Explorers cache token info. Swap Street shows it immediately; xrpl.to and Bithomp pick it up from swap-street.com/.well-known/xrp-ledger.toml when they next refresh.

I closed the browser halfway

Reopen the Launch tab in the same browser and press Continue. Progress is saved on that device only.

9. FAQ

Do I own the token?

Yes. The full supply is minted to your wallet, and Swap Street never holds it. With Lock supply on, nobody controls the issuer afterwards.

Can I change the logo later?

Your logo and details are saved at launch, signed with the issuer key, so get them right before you start. If something needs fixing afterwards, email hello@swapstreet.com from your project's account.

Can I mint more later?

Only if you didn't lock the supply and you kept the issuer secret. Locked tokens can never be minted again.

Can I launch from inside Xaman?

Yes. The Swap Street xApp in Xaman has the same Launch tab and signs you in automatically.

Is this legal advice?

No. Rules on issuing and promoting crypto tokens differ by country. In the UK, for example, crypto marketing aimed at consumers falls under the FCA's financial promotion rules. If your token promises profit or rights to income, speak to a lawyer first.
