Risk notice
Last updated 18 October 2026
Don't invest unless you're prepared to lose all the money you invest. Crypto is high risk, and you are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong.
Here are the main risks of using Swap Street. This list isn't complete. If you're not sure you understand a product, don't use it, and consider getting independent advice.
Prices and losses
- Volatility. Crypto prices can rise or fall a lot, very fast, and a token can go to zero.
- Thin markets. Many XRPL tokens trade in small volumes. You may not be able to sell, or only at a much lower price.
- Slippage. The price can change between your quote and your transaction being validated. You may receive less than the estimate, down to your minimum.
- No compensation. Swap Street isn't regulated. The Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme don't cover it.
Tokens and scams
- Anyone can issue a token on the XRP Ledger. Some are fakes that copy real names and logos, or "rug pulls" where the issuer or team sells out.
- An issuer may be able to freeze its token, claw it back, or charge a transfer fee, depending on its settings.
- Being listed, ranked or shown with a logo on Swap Street is not an endorsement. Always check the issuer address.
- Never share your recovery phrase. Swap Street will never ask for it.
Liquidity pools
- Impermanent loss. If the two assets' prices move apart, your pool share can be worth less than if you had simply held them.
- Trading-fee income is not guaranteed and may not cover impermanent loss.
- Withdrawing returns both assets in the pool's current ratio, not the amounts you put in.
Limit orders
Orders sit on the XRP Ledger's order book and may fill partly, fully, or never. They can fill at a moment when the wider market has moved. Unfilled orders stay open until you close them or they expire.
Bridging
- Bridges are run by ChangeNOW, a third party. Rates are estimates, and the final amount can differ.
- Sending the wrong coin, network, amount, destination tag or memo can lose your funds permanently.
- ChangeNOW may delay, hold or refund an order for anti-money-laundering checks. Swap Street can't release or speed up an order.
Technology
- XRPL transactions are final. Nothing can be reversed once validated.
- Software, wallets, networks, ledgers and data providers can fail, have bugs, or be attacked. Data shown (prices, balances, rewards) can be wrong or out of date.
- Your device or wallet could be compromised. Protect your keys and check every transaction before signing.
$SS rewards
- $SS may have no value and may never be tradeable at a useful price.
- Rewards, milestones, buybacks and prizes can change or end at any time.
- Don't trade more, or more often, than you otherwise would just to collect rewards: fees and losses can easily outweigh any reward.
Law and tax
- Crypto rules differ by country and change often. A change could limit or end your access to Swap Street.
- Swaps, rewards and liquidity can be taxable events. Keep records and check your tax position.
